Therapy offers a space for you to feel supported and heard, whilst also working towards improving your current wellbeing.
I help support individuals and couples with a wide range of difficulties, including (but not limited to):
-Depression/low mood
-Anxiety
-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
-Bipolar Disorder
-Relationship difficulties
-Coping with trauma/abuse
-Anger management
-Stress and burnout
-Personal growth
-Life transitions
-Grief and loss
-Personality Disorders
Note: People experiencing very high levels of distress (e.g., people struggling to control suicidal thinking or experiencing an acute psychotic episode) will best be supported by a team of practitioners (instead of a single therapist), working in a service that can offer crisis support (e.g., community mental health service).

Dare to be vulnerable…
Therapy is a safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings, knowing they will be kept confidential.
The Therapy Process
Assessment
The first one to two sessions will involve us exploring what has brought you to therapy and allow me the opportunity to gather some information on your background and life experiences. After these initial sessions, we will be able to determine what will be most helpful to work towards in therapy and what therapy model (e.g., Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) will be most suited to your specific needs.
In some cases I may determine that seeing a psychologist in private practice is not able to meet all your needs and I will be able to direct you to other services (e.g., community mental health services).
Therapy Sessions
After the initial assessment sessions, we would then typically meet weekly, fortnightly, or monthly for therapy. Therapy creates time for self-reflection and allows you to share your thoughts and feelings in a supportive space. Therapy sessions will be tailored to what is most helpful to improving your current wellbeing. While your goals in therapy will be specific to you, here are a few examples of common areas therapy may focus on:
-Skills to help you cope with current stressors (e.g., emotion regulation techniques, communication skills, mindfulness)
-Building insight into your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that may be unhelpful to you, while in turn strengthening more helpful syles of thinking and behaving to enable positive change in your life.
-Processing traumatic life experiences and finding a way to move forward with hope.
Duration
The duration of therapy varies widely. For example, after an initial session some people may work in therapy to develop a specific skill over the course of five sessions, whilst others may choose to explore their longstanding patterns of thinking and feeling over the course of a number of months.
I can offer both short-term and long-term therapy.
